Dawson County Emergency Service Fire Division operates eight (8) fire stations throughout the city and county. Three of these stations are staffed by volunteers, while the remaining five are “combination” stations, meaning they are staffed by career and volunteer members. The department responds to over 3,200 calls for service annually. Our members are trained in fire suppression, education, inspections, emergency medical care, rescue, as well as a variety of other specialty areas. Our staff completes thousands of hours of training annually to be better prepared and to better serve you.
Dawson County Emergency Services utilizes volunteer firefighters as part of our service delivery plan. Volunteer opportunities exist for both Support and Suppression Firefighters. These volunteers are assigned to stations nearest their residence to ensure the timeliest response. Opportunities also exist for out-of-county residents seeking to volunteer firefighter positions. Recruit classes are held locally as applications warrant.
Dawson County Emergency Services is not currently accepting volunteer applications. Future opportunities will be posted here at the earliest availability.
