The Training Center, located at Station 7, is a modern facility with classrooms and office space for the training staff, burn bulding / training tower, fire suppression props, and drafting pit.
Assistant Chief of Trining Danny Sopeaks provides instruction for all DCES personnel in the areas of fire suppression, basic and advanced emergency medical care, technical rescue, and hazardous materials. All training is delivered from an "all hazards" approach.
The training division is charged with ensuring that our Firefighters / EMTs and Paramedics are not only trained to do their jobs properly, but trained in compliance with all local, state, and national requirements, including Georgia State Requirements, National Professional Qualification (NPQ), National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT), Insurance Services Office, Driver's License, NIMS compliance, promotional requirements, and more.
Each year personnel complete thousands of hours of training to ensure that skills are maintained and improved. All training is provided by the department, as well as through regionally delivered classes, and through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.
First Aid, CPR, and Fire Extinguisher training classes are provided by the Prevention Division. Click here to go to the Prevention Division.
