New full time employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the month following 60 days of continuous employment. Dawson County offers medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts and 401(a), 457(b) and Roth 457(b) retirement plans.  Dawson County also offers supplemental policies through AFLAC.

NFP - Insurance Assistance
Dawson County Human Resources is pleased to partner with NFP (formerly Shawhankins of GA) to help you get the most from your group insurance. NFP can assist you with all of your benefit needs. Anthem (Insurance)
Dawson County offers medical, vision and dental benefits through Anthem-BCBSGA. The Anthem website allows you to check your benefits, view claim status, find a Doctor, print your ID card, and learn more about products and services offered. You can also register with Anthem to manage your account online by visiting www.anthem.com. Please contact Dawson County Human Resources for questions concerning your benefit status, registration or changes to your benefit status. Enrollment is available as part of the new-hire benefits package, during Open Enrollment, and certain Life Event updates.

Lincoln Financial
Dawson County provides Basic Life and AD&D coverage to all eligible full time employees through Lincoln Financial. In addition, Dawson County employees may also choose to elect additional Voluntary Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability throughLincoln Financial. TASC Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
The Medical Flexible Spending Account allows employees to use pre-tax dollars to be reimbursed for out of pocket health care expenses that are not covered by a health, dental or vision insurance policy. A Dependent Care Spending Account (DSA) is also available. Nationwide Pet Insurance
Effective July 1, 2018, we are now offering insurance coverage for your pets. You do not have to wait for the next open enrollment to sign up; this policy can be selected at any point during the year. To get a free, no-obligation quote visit: PetsNationwide.com. Aflac offers supplemental insurance products to individuals. Please contact Sharon Hall at 706-265-1262 ext. 27 regarding your Aflac insurance benefits or to learn about additional insurance options. 

Insurance Enrollment

Dawson County utilizes an on-line program called bswift for enrollment of insurance benefits. {This will include medical, dental, vision, voluntary life, STD, LTD, and flex spending accounts (FSA}. Bswift is available via the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from any location convenient to you. The bswift site is available for new-hire open enrollment and enrollment changes due to qualifying life events.

What you will need:  You are required to provide Name, Date of Birth and Social Security Number for all dependents and beneficiaries.  

How to enroll:

  • Follow the bswift link to: www.dawsoncounty.bswift.com
  • Be sure to disable your pop up blocker.
  • On the enrollment website, enter your Username and Password. (Username: First Initial, Last Name + last 4 digits of your SSN;Initial Password: Last 4 digits of your SSN)
  • You will then be prompted to create a permanent password.
  • From the "Home Page" click on the "Enroll Now" link, to begin the election process.
  • Further details are provided on page 4 & 5 of the 2019-2020 Benefits Enrollment Guide.
  • You may also enroll over the phone, by contacting a Benefit Consultant at 877-373-0730.

Please note: Enrollment into other offered county benefits (retirement and Aflac) cannot be enrolled through bswift.
