Job Title: Receptionist/Legal Administrative Assistant
Department: Dawson County District Attorney
Salary: $32,000 Annually
Status: Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing administrative support and receptionist duties to the District Attorney’s office. Employee will answer the telephone, take and communicate messages to attorneys and greet the general public; will help handle limited questions and provide court information as required. Position is responsible for preparing files; typing office correspondence and records; tracking case information in database; scanning and filing documents; distributing files to trial teams within the office. Will work closely with Clerk of Court’s office ensuring files and case numbers are recorded.   Employee must maintain a professional image in the front office. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
The preferred applicant must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides a sufficient level of understanding of the essential duties of the position. Prior legal experience is preferred.   Employee must have skills operating office equipment; skills operating a computer, facsimile, copier and scanner are required. The applicant should be proficient with Microsoft Office and Corel WordPerfect. Employee must have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, court procedures, and administrative methods; possess good oral and written communication skills and good organization skills. Selected applicant must adhere to a background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
