Salary: $41,367 annually

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the implementation and maintenance of the County’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and assisting county departments with GIS related projects.  Employee will create and maintain the data related to the cadastral data sets using existing GIS cadastral layers and existing maps. Employee will assist in developing, establishing and implementing procedures to collect, store, maintain, retrieve, analyze and utilize data pertinent to the goals of Dawson County; assist in administering data capture and conversion projects; assist in developing necessary plans and documents for procurement of professional services under the supervision of the Public Works Director.  The individual will coordinate the integration of the GIS system into daily workflows of offices throughout Dawson County government in cooperation with applicable department heads and elected officials; design and administer the GIS data model, including relational database management system design and feature schema design.  This position must evaluate and approve system and data design changes, specifications and standards; review, assist and approve database design and other applications not directly associated with the core GIS database and application, but intended for integration with the GIS by County departments.  Employee will also assist in establishing, maintaining and monitoring GIS policies, procedures and quality standards; administer GIS user rights and privileges; aid in developing, implementing and monitoring a GIS-related training program for Dawson County government users; respond to inquiries, request and problems from the Board of Commissioners, County Manager, Department Heads and the general public. Job Requirements:
Applicant must possess the knowledge and demonstrate a level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field sufficient experience to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually interpreted to require five or more years of related high-level GIS experience,   Individual must have a valid Georgia driver license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Selected applicant must adhere to a background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
