Job Title: Operator I (Part-Time)
Department: Dawson County Public Works - Roads
Salary: $12.95 hourly

This position is responsible for assisting with the construction and maintenance of county roads, rights-of-way and drainage systems. Operating equipment that consists of belly and side-arm mowers; utilizing small equipment and hand tools for removing trees and debris; preventative equipment maintenance and posting road signs and others duties as needed.
Applicant must have possession of or the ability to readily obtain a driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred and the applicant must have the ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Knowledge of county policies/procedures pertaining to road and drainage system maintenance and repair; locations of roads and rights-of-way and knowledgeable of department and OSHA safety rules and regulation is preferred. Applicant must have the knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining common tools and equipment associated with the job duties, such as weed eaters, chippers, and chainsaws. Applicant must be able to lift up to 25-lbs on a daily basis, occasionally heavier items and be able to stand long periods of time. The applicant must be able to pass a background check and a drug screening.
