Job Title: Deputy Chief Appraiser
Department: Dawson County Tax Assessor
Salary: $41,367 - $52,122 annually

This position is responsible for appraising real property, supervising department personnel, and assisting with the preparation of the annual county tax digest for real and personal property.
Applicant must be 21 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience with an Assessor Office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the skills and abilities necessary to perform primary job duties. Specialized training in the field of work or experience associated with a higher degree of learning in a related field is preferred. Applicant must possess an Appraiser III certification from the Georgia Department of Revenue and should have knowledge and understanding of standard property appraisal methods, techniques, tax assessment laws, policies and procedures for Georgia. Applicant should be familiar with recording and maintaining cost schedules and utilizing the County’s CAMA (Computer-assisted mass appraisal) system. Individual must be able to interact with the public, provide good customer service, respond to requests in a timely manner, and have an understanding of basic office equipment and computer skills. Applicant must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and have no adverse driving record or felony conviction and be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
