Boot Camp

Enjoy the great outdoors while increasing your cardiovascular system and sculpting lean muscle.  We use the natural environment to shape up!  This class requires you to bring a set of hand weights, a mat or beach towel, and water.

ALL participants MUST complete a Medical History Form prior to participating.  Forms are available on location at first day of class, as well as, at Rock Creek main office.

DCPR 100 Club

DCPR 100 Club is the newest concept to encourage our kids, basketball especially, to shoot and exercise.  It’s a competition that gives children an incentive to work hard and reach goals.

The ultimate goal is to make 100 consecutive free throws.  DCPR will provide a Record Sheet for the witness to record, and sign off on, every time the participant makes 25 CONSECUTIVE free-throws.   Each shooting session, and free throws made, must be witnessed by someone over 18.  Free throws must be shot and made from the designated distance, on the designated goal height, and with the appropriate size ball, as listed below.

Once the participant has reached 100 consecutively made free throws, they become a member of the “DCPR 100 CLUB”.   By becoming a member of the DCPR 100 Club, the participant will receive a DCPR 100 CLUB t-shirt and have their name added to a plaque in the lobby.

The first female and first male to become a member of the DCPR 100 CLUB will receive a basketball.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi practice is probably best known today for its phenomenal health benefits; relaxation, lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, improving strength and flexibility, and much more, but it is also an extremely effective martial art.  The practice of Tai Chi is very low impact making it a perfect discipline for both men and women of all ages.  It involves intense concentration on your immediate activity with an emphasis on complete relaxation.  This combination of the mind being focused on the body’s soft, fluid movements is one reason Tai Chi is often referred to as "meditation in motion”.

The Shaolin Center Dawsonville offers a specialized internal arts curriculum beginning with Yang Style Tai Chi.  The 38 posture and 64 movement Yang form serves as the foundation of our internal arts program.  You will learn to develop smooth, flowing, continuous movements and come to understand why Tai Chi is considered meditation in motion.  You will learn to center yourself, to relax, and to balance not only physically, but mentally as well.  You will also be taught the martial aspects of the movements so that they may contain more meaning for you in your personal practice.

In addition to Tai Chi, you will practice the exercise motions of I Chin Ching (a sister art to Yoga) as practiced by Shaolin monks for hundreds of years.  I Chin Ching practice will increase your internal awareness, strengthen your body, improve your flexibility, and  release tension and stress.

From this strong foundation of Tai Chi and I Chin Ching you will progress in our program to study breathing and meditation concepts, and other internal arts such as Classical Pa Kua, Hsing-I, weapons and much more!

A 2 week FREE trial is available to new participants starting the first Monday of each month.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics participants must register directly through the instructor.

Session I (Aqua Fit Camp):  Push your limits in this fun, easy to follow class!

Session II (Aqua Fusion):  Join this mix of exciting, dynamic, no impact moves that will challenge any fitness level!

Session III (Liquid Strength):  Powerful aqua muscle workout with foam weights paired with invigorating cardio intervals!

Senior Stretch     The less you move, the more susceptible you become to a variety of aches and pains...and the less happy you are. Feel better, increase your range of movement, balance, flexibility, and put that smile back on your face. Join us for a stretch class designed for the more mature generation. We offer many different options to accommodate where you are. Bring along your exercise mat, a bottle of water, and a desire to feel young again.

The Blend      A great mix of Cardio, Hand Weights and Relaxation!  The Blend is a whole body workout on the lighter side.  From pushups to low lunges with weights, crunches to squats and a lot in between.  Attendees start with pushups on their knees to full plank pushups in a very short time.  Even if you are carrying a few extra pounds, you can do this and feel great about yourself.  Office workers, this is a great class to get your body moving and relieve a lot of stress that keeps you awake at night.  No matter your size or shape, as long as you are motivated and believe in yourself, you can do this.  First class is always free so give it a try…what have you got to lose!!

Yoga Stretch, Build, Relax      Every class starts with relaxing, breathing and slow warming moves and eases into Sun Salutations.  Gradually increasing movement, we begin to lengthen and build each muscle group, using just our body weight and our breath.  Coming back down to restore the body to lengthen, stretch and balance.  Finally refocusing our minds and bringing us back to center, we end in Final Relaxation with soothing, calming music as the instructor leads you peacefully into relaxing the mind and body.  Any age, any body type can do this class and get so much out of it.  First class is always free so give it a try…what have you got to lose!!
