General Information

Dawson Forest Road Rehabilitation Project
On June 2, 2016, the Dawson County Board of Commissioners approved the Dawson Forest Road Rehab project, awarding this bid to Blount Construction from Marietta, GA. Blount will be responsible for all aspects of the project, and will perform Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) in the following three sections of Dawson Forest Road:
- Segment 1 - Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area to the Intersection of Hwy 9 (1.2 miles)
- Segment 2 - The Intersection of Hwy 9 to the Lumpkin Campground Intersection Roundabout (3.7 miles)
- Segment 3 - Power Center Drive to the Intersection of Hwy 53 (.8 miles)

The duration of the project will be approximately 2-3 months, and the scope of work consists of the following:
1. Full Depth Reclamation and the addition of Portland cement to the road base.
2. The addition of asphalt binder.
3. The addition of topping.
4. Striping and shoulder building for the duration of the project.

Dawson Forest Road will remain open. Temporary traffic control measures will be in place throughout the duration of the project. Citizens should expect temporary delays. Current grade stakes along Dawson Forest Road are offsets, and do not represent the new edge of the pavement.
