The Dawson County Extension is part of the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Our mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

4-H/Youth

4-H Assists young people to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society through “hands-on” learning experiences. It provide opportunities to youth in community involvements, camps, judging teams, district activities, local activities, day trips, in-school club meetings, and many other activities for youth. 4-H is available to any child who is 9-19 years old.

Radon Education

Radon is now the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. Each year, 22,000 people die from lung cancer in the U.S. as a result of indoor exposure to radon gas – 600 of them in Georgia. Georgia homeowners may obtain a free radon test kit through the Extension office. Ms. Bennett teaches radon educational programs upon request.
