Dawson County to Replace Three Ambulances

The citizens of Dawson County voted to continue the 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for another six years beginning July 1, 2015 and continuing through June 30, 2021. As a part of the SPLOST VI program, public safety vehicles and equipment were included. Dawson County recently concluded a competitive bid process to purchase three replacement ambulances for the Emergency Services Department. The Board of Commissioners strives to keep Emergency Services vehicles and equipment up-to-date to better serve the citizens of the county. During the May 5, 2016 voting session, the Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of three Dodge ambulances from Peach State Ambulance Inc. at a cost of $640,448 funded entirely by SPLOST VI. Due to the customization of ambulances, the county expects to receive the ambulances during mid-2017. Once the new ambulances are in operation, the three older ambulances will be disposed of through a surplus sale.
