Dawson County Government News
**SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT ISSUED BY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE**
FRIDAY, 11/18: Winds will become south to southwest 5 to 10 mph which should keep the smoke confined to the mountain counties in north Georgia...and then mainly those areas that are north and northeast of the actual fires.
SATURDAY, 11/19: A cold front will move across the region Friday night and Saturday. Winds on Saturday will become northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to near 30 mph. Winds are expected to be higher on the ridge tops in the mountains. These winds will spread the smoke south and southeast into parts of the Atlanta, Athens, Gainesville and possibly Macon areas. With these winds and relative humidity dropping into the 25 to 30 percent range, dangerous fire conditions are likely Saturday, especially during the afternoon hours.
