Hurricane Irma Debris Burn Begins March 23
Update (April 17, 2018): The burn is complete.
At noon March 23, Dawson County Public Works will begin the process of burning Hurricane Irma debris that was collected from county rights of way. This follows approval from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Environmental Protection Division and Georgia Forestry Commission. The burn will occur at the EPD-approved staging area located at 946 Burt Creek Road in Dawsonville. Burning will continue daily, Monday-Friday, weather permitting, until completion. The burn is expected to take five to six days.
