2023 Assessment Notices

2023 Assessment Notices will be mailed to property owners on May 16, 2023. Citizens may appeal the assessment notice until June 29, 2023. The Appeal of Assessment form can be found at the bottom of this page or in our office located within the Dawson County Government Center.

Appeals may be submitted in one of the following ways:

  • Bring the form into our office in person; or
  • Mail to our office at Dawson County Tax Assessors, 25 Justice Way, Ste. 1201, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

As a part of the appeal process, a Dawson County Property Appraiser is required to visit your property to review the property and verify the information we have on record.

APPEAL STATUS

OCGA 48-5-311 states that in any county in which the number of appeals exceeds a number equal to or greater than 3 percent of the total number of parcels in the county or the sum of the current assessed value of the parcels under appeal is equal to or greater than 3 percent of the gross tax digest of the county, the county board of tax assessors shall be granted an additional 180 day period to make its determination and notify the taxpayer. Dawson County passed this threshold on June 7, 2023, and an additional 180 days to address all appeals.

Undeliverable Tax Assessment Notices

Undeliverable Assessment Notices are assessment notices that were returned by the United States Postal Service as being undeliverable. Every attempt has been made to determine the correct mailing address and, in some cases, re-mailed only to have some notices returned again. Per Georgia Code Section 48-5-306(c) a public list of undeliverable assessment notices is posted on the Bulletin Board in the Dawson County Tax Assessors office and on this website. All this is an attempt to notify the owner.  For more information, please contact the Tax Assessor’s Office at 706-344-3590.
