Planning Commission

The Dawson County Planning Commission assists in guiding a coordinated development for the County that will best promote public health, safety, order, prosperity, and the general welfare based on existing and future needs. 

The Planning Commission reviews and renders decisions concerning Variances to the Land Use Regulations of Dawson County and other ordinances. The Commission is also called upon to recommend action to the Board of Commissioners regarding requests for land use amendments (rezoning) of real property. The Planning Commission may propose amendments to the Land Use Resolution and conduct public hearings. Membership is appointed to the Commission by each District Commissioner and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.

The Planning Commission typically meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Dawson County Government Center, Assembly Room 2303, 25 Justice Way, Dawsonville, Georgia. There are occasions when applications are withdrawn. Please check with staff regarding changes to the agenda at 706-344-3500 Extension 42336. The public is welcome to attend.
